Two Wheels, Two Planks: Test Mission

With less than a week to go before we set off to northern Norway, we’ve been busy readying the bikes, our packing system and our BOB ski trailers. The day was comfortably warm and clear here in the Green Mountains of Vermont, so we made the most of it with an afternoon bike-ski adventure close to home – another test mission of sorts. Aiming for Mount Ellen (one of Vermont’s 5 highest summits), which is just over ten miles up the valley from our home, we pedaled to the base of the mountain, climbed/skinned 2500′ to the summit, soaked up the fine view and some fresh air, enjoyed a delectable descent back to our bikes… and pedaled toward home. Our friend Forrest Twombly, who will be joining us for the first half of the trip, made the day when he pulled out a small box of locally-made, maple-glazed donuts after the ride. Thanks Forrest!
