After several days of persistent snow, wet snow, fog, freezing fog, sleet, mist and more snow in the mountains, the sun finally shined for a few hours Thursday morning upon the highest elevations of the Northeast. By mid afternoon Thursday, clouds and snow enveloped our mountain tops once again, where we expect them to remain through much of the weekend, as winter officially kicks off. With some luck, many mountains will pick up a few more inches of good base-building snow Friday morning, perhaps some mixed precip and even rain to follow, and then a good 4 to 6 to 10?” of lighter snow by Sunday. Keep those snowy thoughts flowing. Old Man Winter is now officially here to stay for a while.

And Happy Winter Solstice to everyone, and we wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season, too. Ski you out there!
